Durable, low-maintenance and ecologically sustainable materials are a feature of the Ironbank building, and they extend to the surface finishes. Resene paints were specified throughout the building, including parts of the exterior.

Resene Lumbersider tinted to Resene Tuna features on the Titan board under the metal rain screens. Resene Lumbersider is an Environmental Choice-approved paint based on a tough 100% acrylic resin, which ensures maximum durability in exposed areas. It imparts a natural satin look that is fully washable. This product adheres well to primed and natural substrates, timber, concrete and old paintwork.

Interior paper-based plasterboard walls in the Ironbank building are painted in Resene SpaceCote Low Sheen tinted to Resene Black White from The Range Whites & Neutrals fandeck. Resene SpaceCote Low Sheen is an Environmental Choice-approved paint. This waterborne enamel is tough, durable and washable. In critical light areas, its reduced side sheen will minimise surface imperfections.

Resene wallpaper also features in the Ironbank building. The service areas and the outside of the kitchen pods are papered in Brewster 32817, a paintable wallcovering from Resene.

Resene has a long history when it comes to pioneering moves to more environmentally friendly paints. The company introduced waterborne paints in the 1950s, and undertook the removal of lead in all paints in the 1970s. In 1996, the company took a further step forward, joining the Environmental Choice programme.
