If it can be imagined, it can be accomplished. It's a philosophy familiar to fit-out contractors, who are regularly called on to find innovative ways of realising a designer's concepts. But it's a whole lot easier with the right equipment.

Espies NZ Ltd, (formerly Espie Shopfitters) has invested in new infrastructure that makes light work of such challenges. The company, which fitted out Principals, the Sylvia Park Flower Shop, Select The Ring Specialists and several departments at Pak'n'Save, has greatly expanded its business in the past three years.

Sales manager Chris Williams says Espies now has 45 staff, a $10million-plus turnover, and a new 2800m² manufacturing facility.

"The new infrastructure includes a professional estimator, sales team and factory management."

Espies offers a complete turnkey service to retail and commercial customers. This includes project management, cabinetmaking, paint shop and acrylics work, computer numeric control (CNC) routing, steel work and all sub-trade work associated with fit-outs.

"The recent name change to Espies NZ Ltd reflects our broader customer base and products," says Williams. "As well as retail projects, which include all Pumpkin Patch stores (see story page 220), we work on a wide range of commercial interiors, including gym, hospitality and corporate box fit-outs."
