Visible difference
Now you see it, now you don't. The new MiraVision Mirror TV from Philips is a mirror when not in use
Space is often at a premium in apartments, which means designers need to find innovative and flexible solutions to improve functionality.
Space-saving products can make all the difference. A good example is the new MiraVision Mirror TV from Philips, which combines the aesthetics and reflective properties of a mirror with all the viewing applications of a high-resolution LCD TV.
Luana Downing of Philips Commercial Division says the 23-inch MiraVision uses patented polarized mirror technology, which transfers close to 100% of the light through the reflective surface to provide a quality picture.
"The MiraVision is particularly well suited to apartments, hotels or yachts, where there isn't a great amount of space," says Downing. "With the MiraVision, the electronics are hidden and the TV is integrated into the decor of a room. And, because it's also a mirror, it can enhance a room by adding an illusion of space."
The TV is available with a choice of frames, which can be customised.
Downing says the MiraVision is compatible with all in-house movie providers and can be used for bill payment in hotels. The TV can also be linked to a computer and can double as a monitor for internet browsing. A 30-inch model is due to be released in March.
