Attention has been paid to ensuring that the interior and exterior lighting design for the home complements its contemporary architectural style.

Wellington lighting specialist Riel Lighting Wholesalers was asked to provide lighting solutions for the whole house, the outdoor areas and the garden.

Company owner Marcel van Riel says that light plays an important role in a home.

"With the right choices of light sources and by taking an innovative approach to the selection of fittings, lighting can be a very effective way to express the architecture of the house, and to create mood in the different spaces," he says. "A good lighting designer will be able to advise a homeowner on the best fittings to choose."

Part of the brief for this project was to provide energy-saving lighting. Riel Lighting met this need by supplying LED lighting technology and fluorescent lighting. These energy-saving and practical lighting systems have the added advantages of being low maintenance and offering a long life.
