Yve, conceived as a sculpture for Melbourne's skyline, is the Sunland Group's new definition for luxury residential living

Ashifting demographic from the suburbs to high-rise city living, has led to a shift in thinking about the way we live. The Sunland Group's blueprint for this new breed of city dweller is Yve, a contemporary architectural statement.

Sunland Design and Wood Marsh Architects conceived Yve as a sculpture fit to complement the arts and cultural capital of Australia, says Sunland Group joint managing director, Sahba Abedian.

Yve's curvilinear facade, with no straight exterior lines, will use high-performance reflective glass to create a fluid exterior. From the 15th floor the building will recede to a subtle crown.

"Consider Yve as two towers that marry into one, with no obvious back or front, built in layers, and wrapped in ribbons of textured concertina glass," says Abedian.

At ground level, Yve's entrance foyer will feature coloured glass panels, angled to give the impression the building is floating, says Abedian.

Terrazzo floors, mosaic columns, and mesh ceilings are among the textural elements that will be found in the foyer. Passageways, enhanced by a mirrored patina of glass, will lead to four high-speed lifts, each detailed with coloured mirrors to look like jewel boxes.

Sunland's philosophy with this project is to attract owner-occupiers a natural evolution, as Yve will be an iconic building, matching the best of the residential market, but in vertical living, says Abedian.

"Our apartments are generously sized, and fitted with the highest quality finishes and amenities. They are designed so people can actually live in them."

Yve will have 52 one-bedroom, 78 two-bedroom, and 52 three-bedroom apartments, with 24 sub-penthouses and four penthouses. All will have views from Albert Park to Port Phillip Bay, or of St Kilda Road.

Creating an atmosphere more akin to a boutique hotel than a residential tower, Yve's 24-hour concierge, business centre, residents' lounge, in-house cinema, and wine cellar will be complemented by exclusive health and well-being amenities.

Apartment interiors, designed with a soft colour palette, will provide a subtle background against which occupiers can add their own personality, says Abedian.

Lightbox ensuites, encased by floor-to-ceiling glass panels, contain freestanding baths and natural stone vanities. Stainless steel, Renzo Piano-designed, Smeg kitchen appliances complement the contemporary design aesthetic of the kitchens.
