For most people, replacing an appliance is an infrequent event, which means most of us are unaware of the tremendous advances in home appliance technology in recent years.
Some of the most innovative developments have come from Swiss manufacturer V-Zug, a company that is a familiar name in Switzerland, where every second household has at least one V-Zug appliance.
V-Zug recently expanded its distribution network to include Australia. Oskar Kamber, managing director of the Australia operation, says every appliance introduced into the local market reflects the company's innovative approach to design.
"The FutureLine kitchen appliance range is a good example of the company's new design direction," he says. "This is an integrated, fully co-ordinated collection with a clear language of forms. Since this range was introduced in Europe at the beginning of 2009, we have seen sales volumes soar."
Special features of the ovens include fully automatic V-Zug cooking sensors. This means you no longer have to keep checking to see if food is cooked. At the touch of a button, individual recipes are automatically cooked to provide tender, tasty and nutritious food. Programmes include roasting and soft-roasting.
The FutureLine collection includes the Combi-Steam SL oven, which features the new GourmetSteam setting.
"Steam cooking is a particularly healthy way to prepare food, as it retains the flavour, nutrients and colour, and meals are as nutritious as they are delicious," says Kamber.
V-Zug has also introduced innovation to the laundry with the silent Adora SLQ washer and eco-friendly Adora TSL heat pump dryer.
The washer features V-Zug's WetClean and steam anti-crease settings, which makes it the first washing machine to use steam to remove the need for ironing in most cases. The washer also features the silent Vibration Absorbing System. Because the machine in the washer runs completely concentrically and is vibration free, it makes practically no noise.
The machine has 17 programmes, including special wash cycles for jeans, shirts, leisurewear, silk, baby clothes, and duvets.
V-Zug's Adora TSL heat pump dryer uses 45% less energy than a conventional dryer, and is ranked as an Energy Efficiency Class A dryer. This means you can protect the environment and still get your clothes dried faster than with a conventional dryer.
The Adora TSL dryer has an airtight cabinet and highly efficient insulation, which both help minimise humidity in the laundry.
