TLD Studio & QPC Build Group win the 2026 TIDA New Zealand Designer Bathroom of the Year

Like many home projects, the design for this empty-nesters' ensuite began with a collection of inspirational ideas to guide the process.

But, the primary goal was always going to be to celebrate the stunning rural outlooks.

This focus is evident in the placement of the freestanding bath, positioned directly next to full-height windows overlooking the expansive views.

Nearby, the timber vanity serves as another key feature, bringing natural wood tones, warmth and depth to the layout.

Large-format floor and wall tiles extend into the walk-in shower, introducing more subtle warm tones that create a calm, cohesive backdrop for the entire room.

To maintain an open feel, the toilet is tucked discreetly out of sight between the bedroom and the bathroom, maximizing the bathroom’s sense of space.

The TIDA judges commended the smart space planning, noting how it creates a natural flow and an inviting, light-filled environment.
