The sky's the limit
The new SkyCity Grand Hotel is designed to integrate both with the nearby conference centre and with the rest of the city's architecture
The guest pools in the SkyCity Grand Hotel are all part of the five-star facilities on offer. Their installation, however, was not without its challenges.
Frontier Pools has met these challenges with the design detailing and installation of a 25m lap pool and a spa pool on the seventh level of the hotel, part of the gymnasium complex and over the top of the main conference centre.
To ensure the pools do not leak, a major issue with indoor pools, Frontier Pools used multiple levels of waterproof membranes.
Aesthetically, Frontier worked with Craig Craig Moller using purpose-built Italian KlinkerSire tiles for the edge tiles and grills. Diamond Brite plaster, a smooth, durable, colour-fast product designed to withstand the abuse of commercial applications, was chosen for the sides and bottom of the pools. Commercial-grade Waterco pumps and filters and Novozone's Ozone water purification system ensure the water is always crystal-clear and without a strong chlorine smell or skin irritations.
