Heritage preserved with the right paint finish
To ensure the exterior of the Heards building will retain its good looks for years to come, a water-repellent paint coating was specified.
Resene AquaShield mineral effect, in Resene Akaroa and a specially formulated toning colour, features on all exterior surfaces. The paint, which dries to a dead flat finish, has a natural weathered appearance.
Resene marketing manager Karen Warman says Resene AquaShield is particularly suited to highly stressed, weather-exposed facades. The paint combines the water-repellent properties of silicones with an outer microstructure that considerably reduces the contact area for water and dirt. This means dirt particles adhere only loosely and are more easily carried away by raindrops.
Resene paint also features on the interior of the building. The lobby was painted in Resene Wan White from the Karen Walker collection an off-white colour with a hint of grey. Resene Zylone Sheen VOC Free paint was used for these areas. This is an Environmental Choice-approved low-sheen acrylic paint that provides improved air quality, and easily achieves Green Star paint standards.
