Interior Designers, Brenton Smith and Mary MacKillop talk about the process that Bates Smart goes through to create hospitality destinations which take guests on a journey that subtly reflects the local context.
"We approach each project as a unique storytelling experience," says Mary MacKillop.
"We spend a lot of time digging into the site context, the local neighbourhood and materiality. These spaces are no longer defined by one activity: they become blended spaces to work, socialise, drink or dine."
