Taking the initiative
High-tech electronic entrance control for bank
The move to centralised premises provided an opportunity for Westpac New Zealand to install the latest high-tech security systems. These include the Gunnebo SpeedStile entrance control system in the main foyer.
Supplied by Gunnebo Australia, which now owns the former sole distributor Grand Entrance Control, the SpeedStile system provides a closed walkway that will only open on acceptance of an authorised signal.
Andrew Wilson, Gunnebo business line manager for site protection, says SpeedStiles provide the high level of security and functionality required by the bank.
"The SpeedStile mechanism, which is virtually silent when operating, features a drive unit with a DC motor that works in conjunction with a bi-directional encoder. A microprocessor control system guarantees the precise movement and positioning of the retracting glass doors."
The system can detect an unauthorised passage, in which instance the doors are closed and an in-built alarm activated.
Gunnebo entrance control products, which are manufactured in the UK, are customised to suit each location. They feature in corporate buildings, airports, mass transit systems, sports stadiums, leisure and entertainment venues, supermarkets and retail outlets.
