The interior of this aquarium's new hub comes to life with sheeny automotive paints and rich satin acrylics, both from Resene
Creating a new central hub for an existing aquarium complex requires a stand-out interior finish. With visitors constantly visiting and revisiting the space, it has to look lively and upbeat.
Resene paints were specified for the fit-out of Kelly Tarlton's Underwater World new pedestrian hub, which also doubles as an event centre at the heart of the complex.
Paints from Resene Automotive and Performance Coatings were strategically used on the interior, says Peta Drayton, senior architect at Ignite, the architecture firm that undertook the fit-out.
"Some screening walls were given a lustrous teal finish, with cutaways in deep crimson," says Drayton. "The automotive paint takes on various hues depending on the angle of viewing and the lighting."
By day, the paints provide vibrancy and life. By night, their reflective elements create an atmospheric mood.
A satin acrylic, Resene Lumbersider, was used in other parts of the fit-out.
