To take advantage of views of the nearby river, the Millennium Arts Project buildings incorporate more than 12,000m² of glass, much of it framed by approximately 35 tonnes of anodised aluminium extrusions.

G James Glass and Aluminium supplied the external glazing, including the curtain wall, structural glazing and frameless glazing. The company also undertook the traditional aluminium captive systems for the entire project, including the Knowledge Walk and the River Room of the Art Gallery.

To achieve the architect's specific requirements, G James Glass and Aluminium designed and engineered systems uniquely for this project.

According to G James Glass and Aluminium, the numerous systems and the interaction with the structure provided a challenging process. Installation was also difficult, due to the size of some of the glass panels and the access areas.

The scope of works for G James Glass and Aluminium encompassed providing the design, fabrication and installation of the building's colourful facades, using both standard and customised products. Glass types included white, dark green, translucent and clear laminates to the doors, windows and curtain wall panels throughout the building.

Cost-effective, high-performance window and door products and glazing solutions from G James Glass and Aluminium suit high-rise, office and apartment buildings, shopping centres, hospitals, industrial complexes and hotels. The commercial division also specialises in re-cladding and refurbishing existing windows, facades and curtain wall systems, as well as bifold and multi-stacking door systems and balustrading. The company combines its design services with a comprehensive, highly skilled manufacturing and contracting operation, and with an in-house supply of glass and extrusions.
