Harnessing the strength and dazzle of natural quartz in an engineered, workable format can produce a stand-out interior surface. However, while such a product makes an effective feature, design budgets also need consideration.

Quantum Quartz engineered stone from WK Marble & Granite allows architects and specifiers to achieve upmarket surfaces without excessive outlay, says marketing executive Geoff Masterton.

"Made from over 93% natural quartz and a mix of accent materials and pigments all bound by resins, Quantum Quartz is a popular choice for architects and developers," says Masterton.

To meet a developer's objective of a well-received, hassle-free result, Quantum Quartz offers several practical advantages.

"The product is nonporous, and can be worked and shaped in the same way as marble or granite," says Masterton. "It doesn't require sealing and is highly resistant to stains, heat, chemicals, chips and scratches."

In terms of interior design, as well as up-keep, Quantum Quartz provides effective solutions. The palette of shades ranges from neutrals to bold colours, accented with chips of coloured glass, mother of pearl, mirror, granite or quartz.

The new Marsim development of townhouses and apartments at Botany, Bay East, is the epitome of luxurious living, says Marsim's design and communications manager Murray Naylor.

"Every one of the 33 townhouses and 28 apartments features extensive use of Quantum Quartz Diamond White in the kitchens and bathrooms," says Naylor. "Quantum Quartz provided the right balance of quality, performance, cost and choice of colours that we required."

Diamond White is just one of several whites available in the Quantum Quartz range. The options include varieties in tone and aggregate.

"We were able to fine-tune our selection and provide the right complement to the combination of Australian walnut veneer and white polyurethane surfaces," says Naylor.

Quantum Quartz has many commercial applications including flooring, fireplace panels, hearths and window and door surrounds. Slabs come in three different sizes, in standard 20mm and 30mm thicknesses and tile formats.

"For this development project, custom 40mm edges were specified for the bench surfaces," says Naylor.

Masterton says the exacting manufacturingstandards for Quantum Quartz ensure it has complete uniformity of colour, and that the finish has no veins, pores or cracks.

"The experienced staff at WK Marble & Granite can provide a Quantum Quartz, marble or granite solution for every project," says Masterton.
