Composite marble tiles and porcelain timber-look planks were used for the central walkways, and a mix of porcelain and ceramic tiles feature in the toilet areas, says director Hooman Sholehpak."A job on this scale required tight sequencing and co-ordination with the other subcontractors," says Sholehpak. "The mall is nearly 160m long, and half the new floor was not even built when we began laying the tiles. It required a close focus to achieve an exact, square, straight effect, and we engaged a surveyor to survey the whole site and provide reference points." Westfield Riccarton has undergone an extension adding a new level of retail and expanding existing shops. In addition, the wall tiling in the toilets and corridors was challenging in that all the horizontal lines had to meet up along all vistas. This was achieved by using laser-beam levelling equipment.Colourways in off-white and tan give a modern, light feel, with the wood inlays furthering a natural, Southern touch.
