Solid protection
Privacy and shelter from the prevailing wind are provided by stone walls from Auckland Stonemasons

The choice of materials for a boundary fence will be influenced by the type of site and the purpose of the wall. A stone wall, particularly when it is made from local materials, has a natural appearance that blends well with its surroundings. It also shelters the house from the elements and gives the homeowners privacy.
Auckland Stonemasons was asked to build a boundary wall around three sides of this new home on the beach at Mt Maunganui. The 1.5m-high wall was constructed using hand-cut limestone with a dry face and was sourced from nearby Te Kuiti. The stone, which complements the style of the home, will also withstand the harsh maritime conditions.

Auckland Stonemasons was originally set up by the grandfather of the current owners, Jim and Len Lavas. He emigrated in 1927 from a small Dalmatian village that specialised in stonemasonry, and the company has provided stonework for residential and commercial projects, including bridges, retaining walls, pillars and fireplaces, ever since.
