Shimmer and shine
Stainless steel appliances can retain their sparkling showroom appearance when you clean them with a Euro-cloth
While styles and colours come and go in interior design, stainless steel is able to remain neutral against any backdrop. However, many homeowners complain that stainless steel facades soon lose the shiny appearance that attracted them in the showroom.
Applico managing director Mark Jones says the fault lies not with the stainless steel, but with the cleaning methods.
Applico imports the brands Baumatic, Smeg, Classique, St George, Highland and Viking. The company distributes the Euro-cloth through Kitchen Things, Betta Electrical and Carters stores.
"The biggest issue with cleaning stainless steel is using abrasive cleaners that can damage the stainless steel and remove decals and logos," says Jones.
The Euro-cloth is designed to pick up the dirt, dust and fats in common stains, such as fingerprints, and leave only a thin film of water behind. Within minutes this film evaporates for a clean, shiny surface.
Dirt and residue will be released from the Euro-cloth only when it is machine washed in hot water using products that don't contain bleach or fabric softener.
After the initial clean, the Euro-cloth only requires cold water to work effectively on stainless steel surfaces. It carries a manufacturer's 12-month guarantee.
