Interesting design innovations often result from thinking outside the square. By looking to other fields for inspiration, new light can sometimes be shed on common household items.

In this case, the designers of the Radius Series of baths and showers were inspired by design elements of the BMW Z4, says Ray Smith president of Blue Design.

"We approached our designs with a subtractive philosophy to simplify rather than complicate. Our designs are clean with a modern direction. They offer something familiar, but with a fresh look," he says.

The Radius Series consists of five contemporary baths, as well as shower options in 48in and 60in widths. Shower features include steam and body spray systems, chromatherapy lighting, and a teak floor insert to create a spa-like environment.

The quiet, yet powerful Radius Series baths feature an air-and-water hydrotherapy system, an in-line heater and one-touch functionality. Ergonomic details were also critical to the design.

"Even the visual elements are designed with function in mind. The bath designs incorporate elegant curves, as well as clean, precise lines. The generous back-slope areas and extra-deep bathing wells provide a luxurious and calming bathing experience," says Smith.

As an extra treat for the senses, all Radius bathtubs have integrated hydrotherapy massage technology with air flowing through small, powerful jets on the side walls to create a deep, stress-reducing massage. In addition, a mixture of air and water is pumped through eight, larger jets positioned alongside your body, providing a kneading massage that further relieves muscle tension.
