As the beachfront environment can be extreme, hardy materials were used on the exterior. These include aluminium doors and windows, and recycled solid ironbark posts. Pop top roofs with clerestory windows bring light into the centre of the house. "The clients' wish list was extensive. They wanted a large, comfortable, modern home that would reflect an Asian influence. Because of the site restrictions, it required a bulky form. However, the design incorporates pop-top roofs that let light into the middle of the home. The roofs also visually soften the hard edges, giving the home a more relaxed look."A grand entry provides a strong sense of arrival. This leads to a large living area and a swim-up bar that opens directly onto a north-facing pool and spa.
