Designer: Emma Morris of Eterno Design Designer Statement:
Our brief was to create a warm and welcoming home for a young busy family of five, capturing a sense of Scandinavian style.
In the kitchen, careful utilization of heights, between the scullery, tall oven units and wall units help to define the spaces.
One of the client’s wishes was to combine texture and interest through various elements. This was achieved through the pastel Italian porcelain tiled backsplash in the scullery, creating a masterpiece in itself.
Our aim was to create a highly functional and practical kitchen internally and externally with the subtle wow factor!
The island is wrapped in horizontal stained oak panels that drop down into a bespoke engineered dining table supported by a stainless steel leg giving a sense of lightness and floating affect. The Island is more like a piece of furniture, while the internal kitchen is contrasted with a softening matt lacquer white to enrich a sense of freshness, combined with the thick profile of natural marble Island bench top. This is enhanced by the stunning Pendant Lights articulately designed over the drop down dining table.
One of the major requirements was to create a highly functional, flowing space between the kitchen, scullery, workstation and outdoor entertaining and dining areas.
The simplicity in design and attention to detail creates a wonderful canvas to add the owner’s personality. The combination of finishes specified and placement of appliances featured all evoke a sense of style and simplicity within the space, creating a wonderful and highly functional kitchen experience.
