Rural character
To provide a distinctive look to this Jalcon Homes show home, the designer specified Canterbury River Rock stone accents from Stutex Stone
Creating a point of difference is often a good way to ensure a new house has plenty of street appeal. For this new show home in Karaka, it is the lustrous black cladding and river stone pillars that make it stand out in the rural neighbourhood.
The show home, built by Jalcon Homes, features CRR 980 Canterbury River Rock stone accents from Stutex Stone, which complement the landscaping.
For visual continuity, the designer also specified Canterbury River Rock for the fireplace surround. Combined with a natural wood mantelpiece, the stone gives the fireplace a substantial rustic feel.
Director Lorraine Goudie says Stutex Stone's manufactured stone profiles have been designed to replicate New Zealand's regional stone, and feature intricate surface textures that are hard to distinguish from natural stone.
"The veneers provide a way to achieve a natural stone appearance without the usual associated cost."
Goudie says because Stutex Stone veneers are just one-third the weight of natural stone, they can be installed over standard foundations without the need for additional structural bracing. The light weight also means installation is fast.
