Rugs as floor candy from Rug Direct
Rug Direct offers a wide array of flooring features
Creating a rich aesthetic for your home makeover can be as simple as choosing an eye-catching floor covering. However, not all rugs are made equal. A firm that imports the finest hand-crafted rugs from the Middle East is a great place to start.
Rug Direct sources colourful hand-knotted Persian rugs from Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkey and India, displaying them in its large showroom on Auckland's North Shore, says director Farah Farahani.
"The wool rugs are available new and as antique or semi-antique older rugs are popular for their character and history," says Farahani. "Most of our hand-made rugs are coloured with vegetable dyes for a dramatic, colourful appeal. These are our most popular items they are like works of art that will lift the feel of your decor.
"Having said that, we do offer machine-made rugs, also imported. These use synthetic dyes and are suitable for a family with young children where the rug may need to be washed occasionally."
Another popular option is a kilim a flat weave wool rug that enhances a wall just as much as the floorboards. Rug Direct also offers fun children's rugs, shag-pile rugs, saddle bags, cushions and footstools.
