Pulling the plug on global warming

So how much do you really care for our planet? Or do you simply pay lip service – perhaps, a declined straw or plastic bag here and there?  Well with new-to-the-market haus.me luxury 3D-printed off-grid homes you can really make a life difference.

Designed by haus.me

From the designers:

haus.me is the first ever fully self-sustainable mobile house. It doesn’t require an electric grid, propane, natural gas, firewood or any other fuel. It uses solar energy for heating, cooling and electricity. It works in both hot and cold climates.

"We wanted to create the most energy-efficient and insulated building in the world…something good enough to get into the Guinness World Records," says Max Gerbut, CEO of haus.me.

What’s a grid Mum?

The home is a dream come true for anyone – anywhere – who want to truly live off the grid.

All systems run on solar power, so say goodbye to energy bills, and being completely mobile, it can be placed anywhere, anytime.

Still, there will be a lot of fiddly work required to get things set up? Well, no there won’t.

haus.me comes prefabricated and assembled, with no construction permits or onsite work required. In fact, it’s 100% ready to live the dream in, with electronics, furniture, and décor – even wine glasses – all included.

Innovative, self-sustainable and safe

Plus, haus.me is innovative, self-sustainable and safe. All major systems – including security – can be managed remotely, while a cloud-based monitoring and central diagnostic system can locate maintenance issues before they manifest.

In terms of safety, haus.me’s 3-D composite polymer frame is safe for hurricanes and earthquakes.

“What makes the haus.me product different is the way it’s built, says Gerbut.

"When someone starts constructing a house, they usually begin with the frame and then go to insulation, but we did it the opposite way –developing a patented composite polymer insulation that can also be 3D printed into a construction material for building walls."

Efficiency plus

But perhaps haus.me’s most staggering claim to fame is its record-breaking energy efficiency, up to is 20x more efficient than the average American home.

And efficiency applies to longevity as well.

timber frame and plywood house is typically guaranteed by the manufacturer for 10-40 years, but haus.me is made of a 3-D polymer composite that is innovative, robust, and safe, and it has at least a 10 times longer lifetime than homes made with traditional building materials.

How does solar energy power the house?

It’s not magic – it’s super-efficient technology! haus.me is designed for high energy efficiency and low energy consumption. Roof integrated solar panels can generate 7kWh per hour nominal power, so you’ll have plenty of power.

Energy is also stored in a back-up battery, which can power your house for more than one week. If energy resources dip, the home can switch to low-energy consumption.

Your batteries will recharge at sunrise.

How, where, why

haus.me can be used as a primary residence, a vacation home, a guest house, studio, or income-producing secondary dwelling – like an Airbnb rental — or as an autonomous hotel unit.

And the ‘where’ is definitely a moveable feast, your huas.me dwelling can be located in a dream location – think mountain-top, ocean-front, remote forest – or in a dense neighbourhood – think multi-family housing, an ADU, rental unit, guest home, parent-in-law suite, or studio office.

Smart investment

"The house works like your iPhone," says Gerbut. "All of the operating systems are connected to the cloud and you can upload specifications, update systems, and control it remotely."

haus.me Autonomous Off-the-Grid Smart House delivery.

Haus.me is currently aimed at the luxury end of the market, with pricing starting at $199,999 for the grid-connected base model, which can be customized to include off-grid technologies and other features.

And, customers who don’t purchase off-grid customisation still reap energy-saving benefits in the base package. Thanks to the prefab home’s airtight envelope, the house can be heated with less energy than is needed to boil a cup of coffee—even when the temperature dips below 23 degrees celcius, says Gerbut.

"We plan to make it more affordable in the future, but right now the key point is that we use high-quality finishes, natural wood, expensive electronics, built-in furniture, smart appliances, and more," says Gerbut.

"Essentially, it’s a luxury dwelling and vacation home that you can install anywhere in the world."
