Central Otago show home with James Hardie products
The Central Otago location of the show home provides a spectacular backdrop, but it also means the house is exposed to climate extremes.
Not surprisingly, durability was a key concern for both David Reid Homes and architectural designer Mike Sowman. To ensure the house would stand up to the elements a mix of Scyon® Linea Weatherboard and Titan Fae§ade Panel from James Hardie were specified for the exterior.
Paul Fox, manager of David Reid Homes Wanaka and Central Otago says these products are an ideal cladding option for the extreme climate conditions.
"The combination of Scyon Linea and Titan panels makes the home very appealing. We especially wanted to profile the new Titan panels to visitors this home demonstrates the possibilities and offers something a little different."
Sowman says in addition to being robust, the Scyon Linea and Titan panels are low maintenance, which is a plus to potential homeowners. He says aesthetics were another key consideration.
"The James Hardie product provides the clean, contemporary lines required for this home. These products also look visually appealing painted in darker colours."
Both Scyon Linea Weatherboard and Titan Fae§ade Panels are highly durable, BRANZ-appraised lightweight materials. This means less bracing is required, which provides cost savings. Both products are pre-primed to provide a stable base for paint or texture coatings.
Other James Hardie products were specified for the interior of the house. Villaboard® high-performance lining was used behind the shower walls in the bathrooms and Scyon Secura Interior Flooring for the bathroom on the upper level.
Scyon Secura is a water-resistant floor system that is pre-sealed on six sides, removing the need for waterproofing outside of the immediate wet areas. And because it has tongue-and-groove joins, it virtually eliminates squeaking.
"Every aspect of this home, from the exterior to the interior, reflects the David Reid Homes attention to detail," says Fox.
