A picturesque setting and pavilion-style living area are just two of the special features of this holiday home built by Garland Builders
Simplicity is of the essence when you're on holiday, so it's not surprising to see this translated into the design of new holiday homes, such as the one featured here.
The home, designed by Swan Railley & Associates and built by boutique building specialist Garland Builders, sits in an enviable setting in the Bay of Islands.
To maximise the picturesque location, the design provides a pavilion-style living area that opens up to wide decks on two sides. Garland Builders director Murray Garland says the home features 12m-long stacker sliders that disappear inside the walls. The doors completely open the living area to the outdoors and the view. A suspended awning appears to float above the deck.
The exterior is a combination of Linea weatherboards, Titan board and plastered blockwork.
"Although the home has a simple, minimal look, structurally it was reasonably complex to create," says Garland. "Our building team is highly experienced at finding custom solutions to construction challenges and creating a high-quality home for a very satisfied family is a great reward. Because we are a boutique building team, every project we work on receives the same high level of personal dedication, skill and craftsmanship."
