Of sand and seashells
To provide a durable finish for this beach house, the designer specified Resene paints inside and out
Beachfront houses often reflect their surroundings. The designer of this house, Chris Clout of Chris Clout Design, took the idea one step further and created a house in the shape of a large seashell.
The design reference is enhanced by the colours chosen for both the exterior and interior. The colours are from the Resene The Range Whites & Neutrals a comprehensive collection of 360 neutral shades from white through to black. The collection provides up to six strength variations of popular Resene colours.
Resene Napa, a grey-beige neutral, features on the exterior, while eaves and feature beams are painted in Resene Quarter Parchment, a pearly grey hue.
Interior plasterboard walls are finished in Resene Zylone Sheen waterborne low sheen tinted to Resene Quarter Sisal a pale hemp shade. Feature walls are in Resene Pravda, a sober beige. A subtle change to Resene Lustacryl semi-gloss waterborne enamel adds visual interest while maintaining the consistent hue of Resene Quarter Sisal.
These colours capture the immediate outdoor environment being reminiscent of wet and dry sand, with a hint of tussock.
Resene Zylone Sheen waterborne low sheen provides a highly durable, washable surface, well suited to family homes.
