It is often said that location is the first, second and third most important thing to consider when planning a home. And it applies just as much to a building site as an existing home.

"When you are planning such a major investment, you need to be assured that the neighbourhood will retain its value, and that future homes built in the street will be of a similarly high quality," he says.

To provide this peace of mind to clients, Masonry Design Solutions is now marketing house-and-land packages. The company has been engaged to design all of the houses in the St Andrews Way, Albany subdivision, and has already completed its first show home.

"As with every home that will be built on these sites, this house was custom designed," Wilson says. "And, just like every home we build, it features a masonry construction, which gives it solidity, permanence, and a real sense of substance. It also ensures the house is particularly well insulated, so it is warm in winter and cool in summer."

In addition, the masonry construction has aesthetic benefits doors and windows have deep reveals that enhance the European look of the show home.

The attention to detail that is evident on the exterior continues inside. Special features include separate formal and informal living areas, with the pavilion-style formal lounge having an extra-high ceiling.

As with every home designed by Masonry Design Solutions, the show home has an open-plan kitchen, dining and family room. This large space opens out directly to an outdoor living area with a sheltered loggia and fireplace.
