NABD award winners Positive Footprints & Christopher Megowan Design
National Association of Building Designers winners of the Best Alteration/Addition Residential Design and the Best Sustainable Design

The National Association of Building Designers' (NABD) increasingly popular awards sponsored in 2015 by James Hardie bring out the best in this country's designers, as these two projects reflect.
The first home (top) is winner in the Best Alteration/Addition Residential Design up to $350,000 construction cost. For the Convertible Courtyards House, Christopher Megowan Design created a central courtyard between the weatherboard home and the modern extension to flood the open kitchen, living and dining area with natural light.

The second winning project (middle and lower) attracted Best Sustainable Design with the Green & Gold House. Designed by Positive Footprints, it offers multi-generational living with accessible design, and a greenhouse. It also has a 9.1-star energy rating, passive solar design, grey water reuse, earth tube cooling, and phase change thermal mass, together with the use of low embodied energy materials and green building control management.
NABD, started in 2013, offers a national voice for building designers. Aims include recognition for the profession, teaching programmes, and ongoing development.
