A company's technological expertise will often give it a competitive edge, particularly when applied to very large projects.Designer Stainless NZ, a privately owned company, supplied, fabricated and installed high-quality architectural metal and glass work throughout the new stand at Eden Park. To produce the large volume of work with the required degree of accuracy, the company utilised its expertise in producing models using its 3-D CAD program. Director Mike Crawley says the company's ability to model the main access staircases ensured any design issues were overcome at an earlier stage of the process. The company provided much of the interior and exterior metalwork, including barriers, handrails and mesh panels throughout the stands. Most components at Eden Park are fabricated either in mild steel or stainless steel, but Designer Stainless also applied its skills to working with glass for features such as balustrade infill panels.
