Model workplace

The design of a vast manufacturing facility built five years ago has proved so successful that Fisher & Paykel Healthcare Corporation chose to repeat the formula for their latest project

Durability and ease of maintenance are essential requirements for any large roofing project especially when roof sections span 36m and cover more than 21,000m², as is the case with the Fisher & Paykel Healthcare Stewart building.

To meet these requirements, the designers specified Dimond Brownbuilt 900 roofing in Colorcote ZR8, in the colour Habitats Threadbow White.

Dimond marketing communications manager Scott Townsend says the company also supplied steel purlins, with more than 20,000 linear metres of DHS 150 purlins, as well as DHS 300 purlins for the internal ceiling, main roof structure and girts for the walls.

"We also manufactured special barge flashings for the entire perimeter of the building where the roofing meets the cladding," says Townsend. "The curved barge shape was made possible through the use of Dimond's high-tech sheet metal folding machine, which is located in our Auckland factory."

Townsend says the Dimond Brownbuilt 900 roofing has been designed with strong ribs that resist buckling under concentrated loads.

"Equally useful as a wall cladding, its aesthetic appeal can be further enhanced by inverting the profile to create Brownbuilt 900 Reverse Run."

This installation was by Clarke Roofing, a Dimond Certified Commercial Installer. The steel fabricator for the purlins was Jensen Steel.
