As one of the first things guests notice when they visit your home, and most likely the last thing they see as they leave, your front door plays an important role in cultivating favourable first impressions.

One company who realises this is William Russell Doors, a specialist division of Corinthian Doors, whose field of expertise is made-to-order architectural-quality doors using Australian native timbers. While this niche market remains one of its core activities, the businesshas now expanded with the launch of architectural-quality doors for the wider domestic market, says Corinthian's marketing services manager Stephen Dunn.

"William Russell Doors traces its origins back to 1952, and during the past 50 years has become well regarded for the high quality craftsmanship of its entrance and internal doors," he says. "From bold to delicate, the natural colours and grains of species such as sassafras, blackwood, myrtle, ash, jarrah and Tasmanian oak form contemporary combinations."

Four modern door styles, some with inlaid metal strips and glazed viewing panels, are featured on these pages: Metro entrance, Fusion Timber entrance and internal, Fusion Metal entrance, and Wave entrance.

Metro doors feature a combination of Australian native timber species used in vertical and horizontal combinations to highlight the contrast. Metro's signature is a subtle highlight of ultra-slim white veneer to complement the contrasting colours of the timbers. Metro entrance doors complement the internal range, allowing the theme to start at the front door and continue through the home.

The internal doors are a flush construction with internal frames of select hardwood. They feature William Russell Doors' Soundcore technology to reduce sound transmission and provide lightweight yet solid construction. Entrance doors are sturdy, high-performance, entrance-grade construction.

The Fusion Timber entrance door contrasts timber veneers, such as dark jarrah or blackwood, against pale Victorian ash. Horizontal glazing is bordered with a contemporary square bead treatment. Also a flush construction with Soundcore technology, the doors' glazing is available in Clear, White Translucent and Super Grey.

Fusion Metal entrance doors continue the blending theme but add an eye-catching vertical inlay of brushed stainless steel. Timber options include myrtle, jarrah, blackwood and Victorian ash.

The Wave entrance door features organic curves, designed to create a visually calming effect. Solid joinery construction features horizontal bands of timber and glazing, each following a distinctive wave formation. Radiating lines grooved into the face of the timber add to the effect.

For those looking to provide their home with maximum impact, the extra wide 1200mm Wave option, which is designed to be hung using Corinthian's Pivot Door System, should be considered.

The William Russell Doors range also includes four further styles that reflect modern European styling while featuring Australian timber species exclusively. In addition, the company puts its craftsmanship at your service, inviting you to discuss your own ideas for design and veneer combinations. The company takes pride in its ability to manufacture any type of timber door.
