This multi-use venue converts traditional Maori and Pacific Island approaches to building into a contemporary structure
The eye-catching curves of the Pacific Events Centre meant special consideration was given to roofing materials. The complex roofing job needed a product versatile enough to be laid on the unusually shaped roof, while also being robust and durable.
The developers of the stadium chose to use Dimond, a company with 30 years experience in the manufacture of steel roofing, cladding, structural and rainwater products.
In turn, Dimond utilised the installation skills of Clarke Roofing, says Scott Townsend, marketing communications manager for Dimond.
"We chose Clarke Roofing because a project of this size, profile and complexity needed a skilled and experienced roofing installer. Clarke Roofing developed special techniques to ensure the project went as planned," says Townsend.
Dimond Styleline in ColorCote ZRX, a product developed for New Zealand conditions and designed for mild to severe marine environments, was the roofing profile and material chosen for this project.
"Styleline has excellent spanning capabilities. This stadium is an excellent demonstration of the flexibility of steel roofing allowing for design freedom while still remaining cost effective."
