Made to match
A focus on complementary design, combined with high performance sound and vision, makes Samsung components a complete home theatre choice
Home theatres, like homes, come in many different styles. Choosing a system designed to complement other audiovisual components, can bring a balanced and uniform look to a room.
With this principle in mind, Samsung Electronics styled its floor-standing HT-TP75 and HT-P1200 home theatre systems to match its range of LCD and plasma screens. However, as well as being an aesthetic match, the components also have complementary technology, says Michael Apte, Samsung Electronics Australia audio product manager.
"Both home theatres feature High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) outputs. Connected to a Samsung TV with HDMI inputs allows the 100% transmission of both visual and audio digital signals. This gives perfect image and sound reproduction, " he says.
Other features developed by Samsung, which both models share, are a USB host system and Hypervision. The USB host allows a compatible MP3 player, digital camera or multimedia device to be connected to the home theatre. Content can be played and viewed using the home theatre remote control and on screen display.
Hypervision uses the latest upscaling technology to increase DVD resolution from standard definition to the resolution of most high definition TVs.
"Hypervision DVD players are digital-to-digital players that produce optimal high-resolution images from your DVD title. DVDs can be viewed more vividly, with finer details and perception of depth," says Apte.
At this year's prestigious European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) Awards, Samsung's HT-P1200 was chosen as Best European Home Theatre. The model allows a variety of live sound modes, including Virtual 7.1 channel sound, which imitates the movement of sound experienced in cinemas.
