High-performance sound solutions were required for the expansive venue Bartons Sound Systems provided the high-tech response
Along with the dramatic increase in capacity and facilities, Eden Park also required a complete revamp of its sound systems. Bartons Sound Systems (BSS) has been providing sound system solutions to Eden Park for over 20 years. This highly experienced company was subcontracted to Fletcher Construction and asked to design and implement combined music, public address and evacuation systems to exacting NZ 5412:2003 and AS 60849 standards.
The BSS brief entailed the creation of a high-performance system that met the above standards, interfaced with the fire system and satisfied Resource Management Act requirements regarding sound control this last requirement was achieved in co-operation with Marshall Day Acoustics. For the rest, BSS used powerful workstation and EASE software to create a 3-D acoustic model of the stadium. Here acoustic performance was modelled, tested and refined before any physical work took place. Challenges included the scale and complexity of the project, design issues relating to environmental concerns and the tight time frame.
In terms of products, the latest generation Bosch, Praesideo and Electro-voice digital controllers were selected, coupled with leading-technology speaker designs. The comprehensive systems were configured and set in place by Bartons Sound Systems to schedule and without hiccup.
