Looking forward
With modern, efficient services and a high level of finishing, Glebe Harbour apartments and townhouses are designed for enjoyment of living
As seaside homes are exposed to the corrosiveeffects of sun and salt air, they require durable window and door joinery. However, durability need not compromise visual appeal.
Micos Aluminium supplied, manufactured and installed all aluminium windows and doors on the Glebe Harbour project. The company's brief was to detail systems that would meet the architect's design specifications, as well as the thermal and mechanical consultants' requirements, says sales manager Con Micos.
Micos says the project challenges that arose were not related to the development of products and systems, but rather to the finishing details.
"We devised solutions for each different external cladding system, most of which finished right up to the window jamb. There were also steelwork details, such as how to combine components with structural slabs and precast walls without compromising the water penetration to the system, or the acoustic and structural integrity of the facade."
