It is important that the lighting complements architectural style in any new home, renovation or commercial project.

In this case, energy efficient lighting from Cetnaj Stronglink, a New Zealand company that also specialises in electrical and data solutions, was chosen to match the modern architectural design, says product manager, Jeff Lawrence.

"The owner of this modern home wanted to create the right ambience, inside and out, with decorative fixtures, but without the high electrical running costs," he says.

External solutions include subtle lighting that emanates from under the front porch and from the garage. These fixtures are connected to a sensor, which enables all lights to switch on automatically, illuminating the facade, and importantly providing a sense of security, says Lawrence.

"Inside, contemporary starlight fixtures with 20watt bi-pins were installed to create a wow' effect in the foyer. Keeping with the contemporary feel, wall sconce luminaries, with space-like decor features, were used along the hallway," he says.

To light the kitchen, the main hub of the house, the owner chose functional and practical brushed chrome pendants. To add warmth to the master bedroom and walk-in wardrobe, flushed recessed downlights and bedside table lamps were used.

"In the guest bedrooms, simple, energy efficient oyster fixtures were chosen, and their warm glow of light exudes a comforting and relaxed feel in this whole area of the house," says Lawrence.

To provide architects, designers and homeowners with options to match nearly any style of building, Cetnaj Stronglink has created three highly visible lighting showrooms in Takapuna, Manukau and East Tamaki.
