Life in the fast lane
A variety of building systems was employed on the project, supplied by Forman Building Systems
Ceiling and wall systems on Chews Lane buildings varied according to their specific use and location. Besides facilitating the placement of services and meeting fireproofing and acoustic regulations, they also had to offer aesthetic cohesion.
Forman Building Systems supplied several systems on the extensive project, says market manager John Kitchen.
"Three principal products were involved Rondo internal steel stud wall framing, Rondo Keylock steel plasterboard support framework, and Armstrong acoustic ceiling panels in Peakform grid," says Kitchen. "Suspended ceilings allow space for wiring, lighting and air conditioning services to be run out of sight through the apartments and the new and existing office buildings at Chews Lane."
Another important aspect of the massive project from Forman Building System's perspective were two specialist fireproofing materials Firefly and Conlit.
"Firefly Titan, a blanket-like material, provides passive fire protection and was a vital inclusion for fire-rated seismic joints," says Kitchen. "Conlit was used extensively for fire-rated ducting.
"This part of the work required close collaboration between several parties the fire consultants, the builder and the developer, and the many other subcontractors."
