Life in the fast lane
Brockelsby Plumbing and Gasfitting worked closely with all other subcontractors to ensure a watertight result and savings to the developer
To win a case, lawyers need a watertight argument, and this expression is a fair indication of how critical it is for plumbing to be properly installed. Spilled or leaked water can be devastating in terms of potential material damage and the cost of cleanup afterwards. At Chews Lane, one contractor undertook all the above-ground plumbing with a trouble-free result.
Brockelsby Plumbing & Gasfitting provided all aspects of the plumbing services for this project. Work undertaken included installing stormwater, soil and waste pipes, and plumbing for all apartment kitchens and bathrooms, as well as comprehensive services for the new and existing office buildings.
In most areas the plumbing was new. However, in some cases, such as 42 Victoria Street, existing plumbing was repurposed to minimise costs to the client, says owner Grant Mills.
"With such a complex and large-scale fit-out, some issues had to be tweaked along the way," says Mills. "Brockelsby's team 18 staff were on site at the height of construction worked closely with everyone from the main contractor to the sprinkler subcontractor to ensure everything flowed smoothly."
To give an indication of the scale of the job, over 15km of 20mm piping was used in the project and that is just one of the pipe sizes.
Brockelsby also installed acoustic lagging and fire protection for plumbing in Chews Lane.
