Less can indeed be more

Task lighting over the island is often a must in a kitchen design but you don’t want it to detract from the wider scheme of things. Here, a long, linear pendant provides adequate lighting – assisted by the skylight –– in a design by Bijl Architects. The slender nature of the light downplays its presence, particularly in an environment that has other long metal elements, the window design included.
