Keeping up with the play
From corporate DVDs to the news of the day two 42-inch Philips Flat TVs at this reception area help keep visitors informed
Thanks to modern technology, it's easy to keep up with the news, the stock market and personal correspondence. So, it's probably not surprising that many companies are now incorporating multimedia facilities into their reception areas.
The new reception at Telecom's Auckland headquarters is a case in point. The company has installed two 42-inch Philips Flat TVs either side of the main reception desk. These can be used to display television programmes and company promotional DVDs.
The plasma screens can also be used as computer monitors for displaying Powerpoint presentations or for internet browsing.
Luana Downing of Philips Commercial Division says many of the company's Flat TVs have been installed in offices, boardrooms, retail outlets and sports bars.
"As well as appreciating the practical aspects of a widescreen TV, many firms also like to keep up with the latest technology and trends. It helps to reinforce a company's progressive image," she says.
Telecom in Auckland has also incorporated Philips LCD flat-screen monitors on the reception desk.
Another option from Philips is the recently released MiraVision Mirror TV an LCD TV that doubles as a mirror.
