Recent surveys report that the most common remodeling projects undertaken involve the kitchen or bathroom or both. And invariably, these rooms are updated to meet the needs of modern lifestyles.

Such projects are not always straightforward, however, which is why it pays to seek professional advice before you start. The National Kitchen & Bath Association (NKBA) Chicago chapter can put you in touch with members who will ensure your project proceeds as smoothly as possible from the design of your new kitchen or bathroom right through to its manufacture and installation.

Cathy Sparling, CKD, NKBA MidWest president, says NKBA members keep up with current trends by attending professional development courses that raise the bar for kitchen and bath design.

"Homeowners can rest assured they are dealing with a highly trained and experienced professional," she says. "NKBA members have a wealth of experience in finding solutions to specific design challenges, both big and small. They will ensure nothing is overlooked in respect to the functionality of your kitchen or bathroom. They can also source products and materials at competitive rates."
