Inviting space
With a little planning, a laundry in your garage can be a practical solution and a pleasure to work in
It's not uncommon for laundries to be found in a garage they are often a simple affair with a bank of appliances and, with luck, some shelving and a sink. But there is no reason why a garage-based laundry shouldn't be as appealing to work in as any other utility room in the home.
Providing a well-planned, spacious work area has made doing the washing a more comfortable and efficient experience for this homeowner.

"Previously I had the tiniest cubbyhole in the corner of the garage with no cupboard space. I wanted a light, decent-sized space with plenty of cupboards and a rail for drying shirts," she says.
The new laundry has ample storage space above and below the deep sink. The sink is big enough for the homeowner to hand wash clothes, and to fill tall flower vases without chipping them. Halogen lights recessed in the upper cabinetry provide task lighting, and the all-white colour scheme maximises available natural light for sorting and folding clothes and linen.
The laundry is conveniently located close to the outdoor retractable drying line.
