The exterior cladding of any building needs to create the required aesthetic, and it must also present a practical design solution.

Texture helps determine the visual prominence of a wall and influences the colour choice. Moderately rough finishes are often less obtrusive than shiny surfaces, so a building's appearance will be an extension of the designer's use of light, shadow, texture and colour.

For the exterior of the Trends Centre, Ignite Architects specified black exposed aggregate precast concrete cladding panels. These were manufactured and supplied by Wilco Precast to ensure the building has an interesting appearance.

Wilco's 45-year precast experience ensures the panels are manufactured under controlled factory conditions to the highest standards, and are delivered ready for immediate installation.

Colin Beavis, Wilco's precast contracts manager, says this ensures the panels provide a practical cladding solution for use on both low-rise and high-rise structures. It also allows them to be delivered and installed in any weather.

Wilco manufactures a wide variety of architectural precast panel systems, including lightweight concrete panels.
