By Mark Bruce of Beaver Kitchens

Designer’s description:

The layout of our client’s home provided an area separate from the household for a private sanctuary to be created.

Our client had strong design ideas for the bathroom and had built up an extensive collection of images for our consideration.

Husband and wife have very different time schedules in the morning, so the bathroom needed to have isolation for reduced disturbance, yet cohesion with the bedroom and wardrobe. For this reason, a separate room was created exclusively for the toilet, bidet and freestanding basin.

The main bathroom boasts double vanities, in statuary vein marble, each having its own discreetstorage. In addition, a generous cupboard is behind the full length mirror for communal storage of towels etc.

Under-basin cabinetry detailed with traditional quarter turned pillars provides for more storage.

LED strip lighting has been concealed into walls, cabinetry and ceiling that surrounds the antique mirrors.

Beautiful surfaces and the feeling of light filled space makes this a stunning bathroom. The client stipulated that there be no glass in the shower so a generous tiled walk through shower area was designed.

Existing original double glass doors were included in the renovated bathroom as a nod to the era of the home.

Large windows fill the north side of the bathroom and shower area. Control of light and privacy is managed by Santa Fe Shutters.

This bathroom is the inner sanctuary that was visualised, a place to relax, pamper and soak away the stresses of life.
