As commercial design sensibilities have evolved and the emphasis has shifted from utilitarian spaces to individualised spaces, so too has the need grown for customised fittings and furnishings.

Gone are the days of the one size fits all' office; and today manufacturers have to embrace this changing ethos in order to provide customers with the level of fittings they have come to expect.

Lifestyle Cabinets has been supplying custom-made cabinetry for hospitals, laboratories, schools, banks and other businesses for more than 20 years says director Michael Alexs.

"The main focus of our business are our commercial clients, for whom we have supplied kitchens, reception counters, boardroom cabinetry and the like, all to architects' specifications."

Family owned and operated, Lifestyle Cabinets' continued presence in the commercial sector during this time is due in part to the commitment of its staff, Alexs believes.

"We have 30 staff on our payroll, many of whom have been with us for more than 10 years. The pride they take in their work and the commitment they show to Lifestyle Cabinets can be seen in the work they produce."

An investment in technology, in the form of a number of specialised machines, has meant the company has the capacity to handle all types of customised joinery.

"Along with the business sector, we have also carry out large-scale projects for a number of apartment developers.

"Current works include 600 apartments for LU Simon on the Verve and Milano Towers in central Melbourne," says Alexs.
