Traditional panel doors and a hearth-style cooking centre define this new kitchen manufactured by Fyfe Kitchens
Large masonry homes invariably have a commanding presence. And the solidity and permanence of the construction needs to be reflected on the interior.
This kitchen, in a new home designed by Mark Wilson of Masonry Design Solutions, reflects the enduring appeal of the architecture. Built by Fyfe Kitchens, it features a classical mix of new and old.
David Lee of Fyfe Kitchens says the kitchen complements the rest of the home's interior, but it has a strong visual presence in its own right.
"The kitchen makes an impressive statement, and that is due to its size and design," he says. "The materials and colours won't date, which means the kitchen will keep its good looks for many years."
The kitchen's focal point is a hearth-style cooking centre. Other traditional influences include the tiled splashback, and frame-and-panel washed doors with beading and Heritage Hardware handles.
A contemporary accent is provided by the large island, which has a 60mm CaesarStone benchtop manufactured by Stone Warehouse. Negative detailing makes this appear to float above the base.
Fyfe Kitchens also built a scullery with a second kitchen, cabinets and shelving in the library, and all the bathroom vanities.
