This sleek kitchen features beguiling cabinet finishes, helps tame the long adjacent living spaces and tucks much of its function behind closed doors

From the designer:

We worked with this homeowner previously, designing a Poggenpohl kitchen for their family home.

Now retired, they are downsizing in a new home for renovation and have engaged us to custom design the ground floor kitchen, dining and living spaces.

Owner brief:

  • Owners are stylish and quite design savvy, they enjoy using colour and want something modern and sophisticated
  • Completely renew and modernise the entire space with new functional layout suitable for entertaining family and guests.
  • Provide superior cooking and appliance functionality – hide away all the messy and daily operations.
  • Require highest quality product and contemporary aesthetic design complementary to the architecture of the home.

Solution:

  • Utilise the open-plan layout, so that the areas all flow with consistent design aesthetic.
  • Contemporary new range 2023 joinery finishes exclusive to Poggenpohl in Pine Green metallic gloss lacquer provide a unique design direction, paired with Poggenpohl Opal Grey finishes and matching wall paint for a seamless and contemporary aesthetic.
  • Complemented by Aquarzo natural stone from Artedomus with a palette of soft green and greys on the benchtops and floating bench that takes you on a journey through the space.
  • Floating wall cabinets & benchtop in an asymmetric design break up the long wall, with recessed lighting underneath, a study nook, and matching metallic green glass inlay to provide durability to the work surface.
  • The kitchen layout provided a very generously proportioned cooking and entertaining island to gather at and enjoy.
  • Functionally all appliance and service needs are positioned to make cooking an enjoyable occasion – including a hidden Poggenpohl +stage pantry work area with tuck away doors and additional sink with Billi tap.
  • The owners were excited for the seamless flush mounted Miele Induction cooktop with ceiling cassette rangehood which enabled us to keep the area open and unobstructed.
  • Miele integrated fridge and freezer with Liebherr tall integrated wine fridge.
  • Gaggenau oven appliances were selected for quality and ease of use.

Our homeowners love their new living space with the contemporary colour palette and joinery concepts that give lots of interest to the long room to be enjoyed with family and guests.
