High rollers
This flawless finish was achieved with minimal effort and in a short space of time thanks to a set of high-tech Rolana paint roller covers from Rota Cota
The right tool for the job, as the saying goes, makes all the difference, and this is particularly true in terms of a painting project. An appropriate roller for the project to hand can save on application time, avoid paint wastage and produce a blemish-free finish.
Selleys offers a range of professional Rota Cota Rolana paint rollers, each providing specific benefits and suited to specific applications, says marketing director Warwick Rounce.
"These durable tools range from an All Paints roller to one specifically designed for varnishes," says Rounce.
Altogether there are six Rolana models to choose from.
The Original Flat/Rough/Gloss roller features optimum pick-up and progressive release for a consistent finish and is well suited to professionals and DIYers.
Another traditional favourite is the durable Lambswool roller. This offers reliable coverage and allows for easy cleaning of the roller cover when the job is finished.
"For general applications, the All Paints roller is easy to use with both flat and glossy paints," he says. "This roller is suitable for occasional paint jobs either in a professional environment or the home."
For covering an expansive surface quickly, Rolana's Maxi Cover is the appropriate tool for the job.
"The Maxi Roller doesn't offer the opacity of the Original model, but provides maximum efficient coverage," he says. "It is easy to use and requires less loading than other models."
For the application of varnishes, stains, gloss and even semi-gloss paints, the Clear Finish Foam roller gives a fine, clear finish.
"However, for the best possible results on all clear coatings, the Clear Finish Mohair is the ideal choice of roller," says Rounce. "The Mohair blend produces a smooth, even mirror finish."
All rollers are offered in varying lengths depending on the needs of the user.
"Professional painters often choose a 270mm length roller as this will cover a broader area more quickly," says Rounce. "DIYers mainly use a 230mm length roller, as they are easier to control."
Baby roller covers, at a 130mm length, are used for much smaller jobs such as wall strips or for harder to get to areas like behind cabinets or pipes.
A selection guide is available from all Selleys outlets to distinguish the various models and their appropriate uses.
