Lighting directs the attention to the finer details of a building design, but to achieve the full impact, skilled specialists are required to install complex equipment behind the scenes.

Electrical contractor Frank Millar & Co Wellington worked closely with Fletcher Construction and the interior design team to install a complex intelligent lighting control system, providing the most advanced lighting system on the market for BNZ Harbour Quays. The company also installed a comprehensive standby generator back-up power system with individual switchboard controls, and UPS units with multiple back-up systems to supply uninterrupted power for the building. Equipment, supplied by Schneider Electric, included main and floor switchboards from the Prisma P range via Gael Switchboards Wellington. Prisma switchboards are both easy to work with and very safe. Schneider Electric also supplied the Varlogic 12-step controller to provide power factor correction for the building, which helps to control power bills.

Clipsal C-Bus lighting control, supplied via Eco Systems, allows efficient control of light in meeting rooms, common and service areas. It also offers energy savings by controlling lighting levels.

The ATV61 range of variable speed drives, supplied to control the mechanical plant, is renowned for its plain English displays. The 18 units are controlled through the Building Management System.
