High exposure
This new convenience centre developed by Neil Properties typifies emerging trends in suburban retail development
High-profile companies thrive on exposure. So it makes sense to position new retail centres in prominent areas with a high traffic flow.
The No 5 Aviemore Convenience Centre in Aviemore Drive, Highland Park, Auckland is a good example. A recently completed development by Neil Properties, this retail and convenience centre, featuring branded retail and hospitality businesses, is situated close to several main thoroughfares. Senior development manager Keith Maddison says more than 17,000 vehicles per day travel along Aviemore Drive alone.
The centre, which is complemented by more than 60 car parks and easy access, has already attracted several established brand retail outlets, including Hell Pizza.
"The complex comprises two buildings with 10 tenancies, most of which have already been leased," Maddison says. "Other tenants include a fashion store, pharmacy, pet care outlet, dentist and optometrist."
Maddison says the complex has been designed to provide attractive destination shopping. The building's orientation makes the most of the site's location next to the Pakuranga Stream Reserve.
"There is also a central courtyard and private patios opening out to the north."
